Optus Small-Sided Football (SSF) is a modified version of the game designed to meet the needs of players aged 5 - 11. The smaller sized fields with fewer numbers of players per team encourages more touches on the ball and opportunities for more goals to be scored.
SSF Under 7s (Introductory Program)
This program is designed to give kids an introduction to soccer and learn the basics of the game in a fun and engaging format where there is no pressure.
We base our activities on the SSF philosophy and we emphasise
FUN! over competition.
We accept children who have turned 5 up to children who will turn 7 in 2012
Start date : Saturday 14th April
Session times : 9am to 10:00am (please arrive early to sign in and allow us to warm up and group the kids, and also to help set-up)
Venue : Dorset Reserve, Jenkins Lane (off Dorset Road), Croydon (Mel 51 B6)
Format : Players are split into groups based on age and/or confidence, and participate in skills based activities in small groups.
At the end of the session, games of 4 v 4 are run to put into action skills learned and to develop game play.
Gala Days : We aim to arrange Gala Days with Ringwood, Boronia, Montrose and Mooroolbark Soccer Clubs, where kids will play 2 games against similar aged teams from other clubs.
NOTE :These days will run for longer than our normal sessions.
What you should bring
. Shin pads are compulsory for safety and insurance reasons
. Sensible clothing and footwear are required - Soccer/Footy boots are preferred
. Optional hat and a removable pullover/jacket as temperature varies through the season.
. Each child also requires a drink bottle filled with water.
Parent/Carer Involvement :
Our program can't run without the help and support of enthusiastic Parents and carers.
We encourage you to assist in running the sessions and join in the fun.
No prior knowledge of soccer is required and training sessions can be provided.

Registration :
Participants must have FFA registration completed and have paid fees with Croydon City Arrows before they can participate. Cost for 2012 season is $140 - discount for more than one child in a family.
